i thought i might get to cook while i am here, but grandma keeps a tight grip on her kitchen. if she hears the refrigerator door open, she comes to investigate. all dishes used to prepare a meal are washed before the meal is eaten. she told me my mom used to make a mess in her kitchen. that was nearly thirty years ago, and she still hasn't let it go. i don't really want to get on her bad side.
