On Saturday, I tied the lace of the shoe of the woman in the center of these photographs. She was old, and I thought that it might be difficult to lean over and tie it herself. I asked if I could help. She was slowly shuffling across Pont Neuf. I don't think she could speak, because she nodded her head. And when I turned around to make sure she had gone on her way, she waved.

a pity that the elderly here ever look so smart.
