yesterday i didn't feel like a stranger here.
maybe it's because i saw people i had met before and they remembered my name.
small things like this make a big difference.
one of the recurring france versus america conversations i have:
people tell me americans are immediately your best friends,
but then when you call them to do something they have forgotten who you are.
on the other hand, french are hard nuts to crack,
but once you do, you're golden.
